National Park Service authorities believe the missing man from Freehold, New Jersey, whose full name is Thomas Daniel Gibbs, descended into the canyon on the Grandview Trail.

Meanwhile, air quality in the canyon has suffered because of smoke from the raging Dragon Bravo fire.

“A dear friend of mine has a brother that is missing,” reads a Reddit post along with a picture of Gibbs, posted by a user with the handle Various-Frame-5404.
