The mother of Thomas Gibbs recently shared a post on Facebook, asking for help from people with experience in exploring Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, any hope of finding her son is long gone and the effort now is focused on locating his remains and bringing closure.

Prior post:
Tom Gibbs, a 35-year-old hiker from New Jersey, has gone missing in the Grand Canyon.

With the canyon under an extreme heat warning, Gibbs’s family and friends fear the worst.

Gibbs, who was driving across the country in a Tesla Cybertruck, was reported missing on July 28th.

That same day, Gibbs’s Cybertruck turned up in the Grandview Point parking lot along the canyon’s South Rim.

National Park Service authorities believe the missing man from Freehold, New Jersey, whose full name is Thomas Daniel Gibbs, descended into the canyon on the Grandview Trail.

The Grandview Trail, a steep path intended for experienced and well-prepared hikers, descends 2,500 vertical feet to Horseshoe Mesa.
There are no reliable water sources along the rugged route.

Meanwhile, air quality in the canyon has suffered because of smoke from the raging Dragon Bravo fire.

“A dear friend of mine has a brother that is missing,” reads a Reddit post along with a picture of Gibbs, posted by a user with the handle Various-Frame-5404.

“If you have been to the Grand Canyon in the past week and saw him or somehow happen to see Tommy out on the west coast, please let the local authorities know.” The number to call is 888-653-0009.
